My Dance of Joy is Not Naughty.

I had a succession of fabulous days last week. Consider the following lovely things that happened, in no particular order of wonderfulness:

*Boston pretended it wasn’t November, and presented me with several days of temperatures in the mid sixties.

*I got the best ‘zine from the guy who runs Mreow.com .

*I ended my great internship at the USS Constitution, and so finished all of my coursework for Basic Materials repair that has to be done outside of reading for class. The super-cool archivists there also gave me all the research materials I need for my final paper in Appraisal. All the people at the Museum of the USS Constitution rule .

*I flirted face to face with someone for the first time in ages, and had my flirting reciprocated. It’s been months and months since I flirted with anyone without angst, or by using electronic means such as IM, the telephone, or e-mail. Not-Very-Serious face-to-face flirting rules!!!

*Wonder Woman beat up Superman her comic book. This means that my old friend Virgil Pool owes me roughly “a zillion billion kajillion dollars” from a bet we made in grade school. I am so rich!!!

*I realized that no one is going to hire me for a full time professional position between Thanksgiving in Christmas. I also realized that even if I just get a job as a shelver in a library somewhere, I’d get a minimum of $10 per hour. Further realization: I’m in Boston! You have to try to fail here, and I have no intention of doing that. So everything’s going to be OK.

*I saw Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone with my friend Rose Anne, and Alan Rickman *was* Professor Snape. We had beer and sandwiches afterwards.

*I also had beer with some gals at work I’ve wanted to drink with for a long time. We did this while watching the movie Party Girl. I’ve worshipped Parker Posey ever since I saw House of Yes, but after watching her do the things she does in the stacks of a New York Public Library, she’s now my Queen of all Librarians in Movies.

*After finishing a three hour class and then three more hours of group project work on Saturday, I came home and had hot chocolate chip cookies waiting for me courtesy of Aral. I was then free to snuggle up with comic books and cookies and nap on the living room couch. Pure Bliss, I tell you!

*Aral also went on a doughnut run Sunday morning and brought back a bag of fresh sugary goodness. Aral is now my Queen of all Decadent Snacks.

*Saturday I did my private dance of joy in my living room thanks to an awesome package from Christi Underdown. I used to call this dance "The Package Dance" because I did it whenever loved ones sent me boxes in the mail. Then someone tipped me off that calling my dorky fun private dance of joy "The Package Dance" made it sound all X-rated, which it is so very not. It's more like a free form expression of joy, which is not naughty at all, just sort of potentially embarrassing if someone were to ever catch it on tape ;).

*The package contained not only my favorite tea and a very good letter, but also my special kind of planner that I use every year for 2002!!! She even remembered to tape the receipt in the front like I do every year, and it came before December started, a month in advance just like always!!! I nominate Christi as my Queen of Comfortable Habits.

*Dust and I talked twice. He’s my Queen of Pop Culture Deconstruction. We talked about the new Justice League show on Cartoon Network. The Justice League rules!! Sometimes there aren’t enough frames per second, which makes the animation a little jumpy, but the artwork and storylines are pretty good so far. I’m just so happy to see a kid’s cartoon where protesters are cool, the military is secretly made up of evil aliens, and the world will be saved every week from corporate drones by a band of idealists. At least, I hope that’s what it turns out to be like after the first 90 minutes that I saw.

Life is good.
