Suddenly it's November
Today I went to the USS Constitution Museum library and evaluated the damage time had done to some books people had donated. There was the normal damage done by bugs, leather rot, and paper acidity, but my favorite find was the little-girl Tinkerbell lipstick kiss on the endpaper of a very rare book from 1815.
What tiny princess chose to blot her hot pink lips on someone’s collection of naval history? I’ll never know, and I can only imagine what the conservators will do to remove the kiss from the text – probably just replace the endpapers, I suppose.
It’s really cold today, and I have the feeling that after it rains tonight there will be no more warm weather until April at the earliest. Which is just as well, because I’m so darn busy I have no business playing outside anyway. I’ve got three huge projects due at the end of the month, including the book pitch for publishing, a presentation in appraisal and a paper that’s attached to the work I’m doing at the museum library. Oh, and I have to find a full time job, graduate, and try to motivate my 14 year old sister to work so we’ll have some cash when she comes to visit.
And it’s time you know, it’s almost time for me to start all over again with my life, just like I seem to do every nine months or so. You would think that starting your life over every nine months would be wonderful and symbolic, but I assure you, it’s really just a pain in the ass.
I spent the weekend making invitations for my big graduation party December 22 in Murfreesboro. I figure everyone should have an invite by the end of the month. My friends Tony, Andrew, Jeff and Jason are giving me the use of their fabulous party talents and their house for a night as my graduation present. I’m so freaking excited about this party that I spent way too much dough making the invitations, but they look fabulous.
Everything is happening so fast that the days slide out from under my fingertips before I can try to hold on to them properly in my hands. Wake eat run learn work eat sleep wake eat run learn work eat sleep wake eat run learn work eat sleep wake eat run learn work eat sleep wake eat run learn work eat sleep wake eat run learn work eat sleep wake eat run learn work eat sleep wake eat run learn work…
It'll take a few minutes, but the one thousandth reason I know Dust is a genius can be downloaded here .
